Emphasis is placed on mental health, suicide, substance use, epilepsy, community-patient advocacy, permanent childfree-by-choice, law enforcement, criminal justice system, developing school curriculum and school materials with families and communities, economic development and wealth development. Prior to living in Baltimore, Maryland, Kimya Nuru Dennis, Ph.D. was associate professor of sociology and criminal studies and the creator and coordinator of the criminal studies academic program at Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC. Kimya Nuru Dennis, Ph.D. received an M.S. (2003) in criminal justice from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Ph.D. (2010) in sociology with concentrations in criminology and inequality from North Carolina State University. Kimya Nuru Dennis, Ph.D. volunteered for various board of directors, committees, conducted presentations and trainings, and teaches a range of college courses.
